CURIFOLD PUZZLE SCHOOL · LESSON 6

Track who could be where

Distinguish a possible location from one forced by every clue.

← Curifold Puzzle School · 7 minutes ·

At exactly noon, Ada, Bo, Cleo and Dev occupy four different rooms: hall, studio, library and kitchen. Each room has one person. This is one snapshot; you do not need to invent journeys or travel times.

  1. Scope: exactly noon
  2. Candidates: rooms not excluded
  3. Forced location: one remains

The idea

“Could be” means a candidate remains possible. “Must be” means every valid completed assignment puts that person there. Keep the snapshot’s time attached to each conclusion. A definite location excludes other people from that room only because of the one-person-per-room rule. Do not turn the first candidate you notice into a certainty.

Try it yourself

The clues

  1. Bo is in the hall at noon.
  2. Cleo is in the library at noon.
  3. Ada is in neither the library nor the kitchen at noon.
  4. All four rooms have different occupants.

Place Bo and Cleo, then remove their rooms from other rows.

Hint 2

Ada has one remaining room; Dev takes the last one.

Where must Dev be at noon?

Read all responses and explanations

Studio
Ada must take the studio once the hall, library and kitchen are excluded for her.

Kitchen
Bo has hall, Cleo library, Ada studio; kitchen is the remaining room.

Hall
Bo already occupies the hall under the one-person rule.

Where was Dev at 11:55?

Certainly in the kitchen.
A noon location does not prove an earlier location.

The clues do not establish that.
The record supplies a noon snapshot only, so earlier movements remain unknown.

Walking from the studio.
That adds a journey that is not described by any clue.

Reveal the complete solution

At noon: Ada studio, Bo hall, Cleo library, Dev kitchen. Exactly one of 24 assignments fits. Earlier and later locations are unspecified.

Make it your own

Add “at noon” to your completed statements. Remove the different-rooms rule and explain why Bo’s hall would no longer automatically exclude Ada from the hall.

Your takeaway

  1. Draw the people as rows
  2. Draw the rooms as columns
  3. Attach the noon timestamp
  4. Record the complete assignment
  5. Explain what remains unknown
